Are you a fan of anime? Then join our monthly meeting of the BPL Anime Club (for Grown-Ups)!
The BPL Anime Club will meet on the first Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the J. Henry Kegley Meeting Room. We’ll watch anime movies and television series on our Big Screen. We’ll also discuss anime and related manga and munch on Japanese snacks. It’s a free, walk-in event. No registration is necessary.
For our meeting on November 2, we’re showing Steamboy (2004). Starring Anna Paquin, Patrick Stewart, and Alfred Molina, Steamboy is a fascinating, steampunk adventure of epic proportions.
Rei (Paquin) is a young inventor living in Manchester. The son and grandson of inventors, Rei has a very big legacy behind him; not to mention, he’s just come into possession of his grandfather’s (Stewart) invention: the “Steam Ball.” Seemingly filled with limitless power, the Steam Ball is an incredible invention in the right hands—and a dangerous weapon in the wrong ones.
