    JOB SUMMARY: The Registered Dietitian is responsible for implementation of wellness activities for Food City and provides guidance on nutrition issues to all areas of the store and customer base. Primary responsibilities include planning and executing food and nutrition, wellness events (i.e. sampling stations, cooking demonstrations, classes, community programs, etc.), delivering nutrition presentations, serving as a nutrition resource for customers and associates, and serving as a resource on issues related to nutrition, health, and food safety.
                 
    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Researches and creates weekly content for customer-based demographics in conjunction with Advertising Department to promote healthy initiatives, meal planning, and ability to tailor nutrition and health messages to satisfy customers’ needs and interests.
    • Writes and presents food and nutrition features for multiple forms of media (television, radio, social media, etc.) including healthy recipes, shopping lists, suggested menus, and overall wellness education.
    • Promotes FoodCity.com and the Food City App, including recipe creation, health content, recipe makeovers, and item selection.
    • Works with the Pharmacy Clinical Team to help bring education to our customers by helping bridge the gap between food and medicine to include, but not limited to:
      • Coordinates and conducts store tours with emphasis on healthful eating and other needs (i.e. Diabetes, weight management, child nutrition, etc.).
      • Disease state management as it relates to nutrition.
      • Performs cooking demonstrations around certain diseases in conjunction with Culinary Team, as well as sampling stations at Food City retail locations, community events, and company-sponsored activities.
      • Company’s representative at community health fairs
      • Develops and presents online content and video recorded workshops (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
      • Develops and implements education modules for specific disease states (High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, etc.)
      • Spokesperson for nutrition, health, and wellness
      • Liaison between TOPCO and K-VA-T Food Stores, Inc. for TOPCO-initiated programs
    • Works directly with Store Leadership and Pharmacy Department to execute referral programs and create nutrition service opportunities.
    • Drives additional revenue to Food City through sales of specific products, information, and nutrition services.
    • Consistently and accurately tracks administrative duties, services, and revenue completed by week.
    • Responds to customer questions and concerns related to nutrition and food safety.
    • Educates associates, customers, and partners on health and nutrition to drive knowledge, sales, loyalty, and health improvement.
    • Monitors issues and trends relevant to food products.
    • Fosters relationships with local businesses, schools, and healthcare facilities by providing nutrition education both in and outside of the stores.
    • Other duties, as assigned.
    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor’s degree with major in relevant field, such as nutrition, dietetics, or food science, granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university.
    • Registered Dietitian with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association; Certification/Licensure as required by state of practice.
    • Previous experience as Registered Dietitian or Nutritionist in a retail environment, preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal, communicative, and media skills.
    • Ability to generate ideas and think creatively.
    • Skilled in delivering presentations to small and large groups.
    • Knowledge of accurate science, trends, and topics of interest to customer base.
    • Competence with nutrient analysis, work processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize work under pressure to meet deadlines.
    • Ability to function independently and work without immediate supervision.
    • Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks, and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals daily.
    • Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours, in the typical work week, as well as additional time as needed to fulfill job duties through regular attendance.
