    Job Summary: The Industrial Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining work standards using time study, work sample, and predetermined time standard methods, and is the liaison to Retail Operations peers, other department leaders, and executive leadership. In addition, this position will support process improvement activities that drive productivity and labor utilization opportunities, while enabling an improved customer experience. Provide content that will be used to develop and maintain Global Standard Operating Procedures and operational best practice documents. Responsibilities also include supporting rollout and training initiatives to the field required to properly execute best practices at the store level and provide support from a Labor Management perspective.
    Essential Job Functions:

    • Perform time studies, work sampling, and ability to build standards using Methods-Time Measurement (MTM) data and Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST)
    • Develop, update, analyze, and document all Global labor standards
    • Maintain and develop process workflows and ensure processes are accounted for in labor planning application
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies
    • Maintain a working knowledge of Industrial Engineering Software Platforms
    • Provide support building best practices for each job function within the store departments
    • Provide reporting that evaluates the current state of the labor model highlighting successes/opportunities; develop action plans to address and implement if needed
    • Provide statistical analysis that drives reduced variation within work tasks to improve process efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction
    • Travel to retail locations and offices to support process improvement initiatives and improve efficiencies by reducing waste of time, money, materials, energy, and other resources.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, or equivalent
    • LEAN and/or Six Sigma certification
    • Experience with time study methods
    • Experience working with LOGILE, Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG), AXSIUM, or other Workforce Management software.
    • Proficient computer skills:
      • Microsoft Excel – ability/aptitude to learn/create complex spreadsheets using advanced formulas (V-lookups, IF statements, pivot tables, macros).
      • Microsoft PowerPoint – ability/aptitude to learn/create professional presentations.
      • Kronos Analytics – full understanding and ability to use applicable functions relating to Product styles.
      • Data acquisition such as MicroStrategy – ability/aptitude to access reports and build/manipulate queries
      • Experience with Kronos or other relevant workforce planning application
    • Ability to be collaborative and work with and through cross functional teams within all levels of the organization
    • Strong analytical skills required; ability to gather and extract conclusions from available data
    • Strong statistical skills required; Minitab or similar statistical software is a plus
    • Project management skills demonstrating the ability to plan, oversee, and coordinate people and processes regarding time constraints, budget considerations, resource availability, etc. to achieve desired outcomes aligned with objectives
    • Ability to set priorities and multi-task
    • Highly organized and detail oriented
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills – ability to synthesize analyses into simple and clear written communications
    • Previous retail store or distribution center experience is strongly preferred
    • Experience with process improvement (CI) successes in a retail environment is a plus
    • Experience with 5S System (Lean Manufacturing Methodology) is a plus
    • Ability to travel independently up to 25% is required to Food City retail store locations and Food City’s Distribution Center
    • Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours, in the typical work week, as well as extra time as needed to fulfill job duties
